DHA LAHORE TO CONSIDER ALLOCATION OF LAND TO PTL FOR TAXI STATION


17 March 2006: A meeting was held with the Corps Commander Lahore on 17 th March, 2006 Mr. Umer Ahmed Ghuman, Minister of State for Privatization & Investment, and The Chairman, Defence Housing Authority, Lahore were also present in the meeting. Mr. M. Dawood Khan made a detailed presentation of the project of Prime Transport Limited, which intends to Assemble/Manufacture famous Black Cabs of London in Pakistan in collaboration with M/s. LTI Vehicles Limited, U.K., and operate the said vehicles as a Satellite Controlled Taxi Service in all major cities of Pakistan.


The Corps Commander Lt. General Shafatullah Shah appreciated the project as envisaged by Prime Transport Limited ([PTL), which would be a landmark in the Transport Industry of Pakistan. He informed that the President of Pakistan is keenly interested in the project and has advised the Corps Commander to support the project.


The Minister of State for Privatization and Investment who is also Chairman, Board of Investment, Government of Pakistan informed that PTL's car assembly/manufacturing plant would be established at Karachi. However, PTL needs land to put up its Taxi Stations in different cities including Lahore. He desired that land to be allocated to PTL needs to be near Lahore International Airport in a safe and secured area.


The Corps Commander advised the Chairman, Pakistan Defence Officers Housing Authority, Lahore to identify a suitable plot of land for allotment to PTL. The Chairman, DHA agreed to provide adequate piece of land to PTL for establishing its Taxi Stations. PTL's Taxi Stations will have parking, cleaning & maintenance, service and refueling facilities for the vehicles.
