The
British Deputy High Commissioner and Director of Trade &
Investment Mr. Hamish Daniel visited the office of Prime
Transport Limited (PTL) and discussed the progress of the
project of assembly, manufacture and operations of the famous
Black Cabs of United Kingdom in Pakistan. The Chief
Executive PTL, Mr. Dawood Khan also gave a detailed presentation
about the project. He emphasized that the project of this
magnitude can not be successfully implemented without generous
support of the Governments of United Kingdom and Pakistan.
Mr. Khan also pin pointed the bottlenecks and problems which
were likely to cause delay in the project. These

problems warrant sympathetic consideration much as it is a
project of welfare, which aims at providing safe, economical,
efficient and reliable public transport facility to the people
of Pakistan on one hand and will create a large number of direct
and indirect employment opportunities on the other.
Successful implementation of the project will contribute towards
achieving Government of Pakistan’s objective to improve upon
mass transit system. Moreover, this is highly job
intensive projectof the two Governments. PTL
has already requested the Government of Pakistan to give a
special treatment to the project in as much as it is a project
of welfare, which aims at providing safe, economical, efficient
and reliable public transport facility to the people of Pakistan
on one hand and will create a large number of direct and
indirect employment opportunities on the other. Successful
implementation of the project will contribute towards achieving
Government of Pakistan’s objective to improve upon mass transit
system. Moreover, this is highly job intensive project
which will go a long way towards poverty alleviation by
reduction in unemployment. Mr. Hamish Daniel discussed the
pros and cons of the project and its implementation in greater
detail and expressed satisfaction that the investment climate in
Pakistan was conducive to promote business. He informed
that the Government of Great Britain was deeply interested in
the development and prosperity of Pakistan, owing to our strong
relations existing between the two countries for decades.
U.K. was also keenly interested in boosting trade relations
between two countries. Mr. Daniel assured his full
support to PTL, in its project of manufacturing and operating
Black Cabs, (a purpose built taxi) in Pakistan. It is

reliably learnt that a meeting was also held between the
delegation of LTI Vehicles Limited, the manufacturers and
suppliers of Black Cabs with the Trade Commissioner of Pakistan
in the Pakistan’s High Commission at London, which meeting was
also reported to be most fruitful and encouraging. |
