- The
Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet in its meeting held
today considered the request of Prime Transport Limited, which
envisages assembly/manufacture of the famous Black Cabs of U.K., in
Pakistan and to operate them as Satellite Controlled Taxis Service
in all major cities of Pakistan. In order to facilitate
commencement of trial runs the ECC graciously allowed duty free
import of first batch of 300 vehicles in CBU form duty free.
The company
will put its plant at Karachi for local assembly of the vehicles and
in due course will start manufacture of the vehicles indigenously.
The operations of Satellite Controlled Taxi Service will bring a
change in transport culture in Pakistan and ensure safe, dependable,
luxurious and economical transport service. It will also open up
employment opportunities and the project when completed will provide
45,000 employments.
